German Potato Pancakes

You can't have a German menu without German Potato Pancakes. The Vintage Restaurant serves this menu staple with a side of applesauce.

Ingredients:
1 lb. pared, raw potatoes
1 large onion
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
Pinch of pepper

Put the potatoes and onion through a food processor/chopper. Grate. Add egg, flour, baking powder, salt and pepper. Mix well. Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto a hot well-greased frying pan or griddle. Flatten each with a spoon. Brown on each side. Serve with butter, applesauce or sour cream.
