Hot Mulled Wine

One of many mulled wine recipes, this one is simple and unassuming. An even simpler way to make mulled wine is to purchase a bag of mulled wine spices and simply drop it in the wine before heating. We carry the small spice bags in our gift shop. 

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 lemon, sliced
2 sticks cinnamon
2 whole cloves
1 bottle (750 ml) of Stone Hill Winery Hermannsberger (or other dry red wine)
nutmeg

Combine boiling water, sugar, lemon, cinnamon and cloves; stir until sugar dissolves. Add wine; simmer 20 minutes. Do not boil. Strain. Serve hot with a sprinkling of nutmeg.
